There’s nothing worse for your engine than getting a crankshaft balance wrong—it can be absolutely catastrophic. Our expert technicians know the ins and outs of an engine and can be trusted to balance your engine down to the smallest tolerances.
Engine balancing is necessary for a performance V8 engine. We all know what happens when a wheel is fitted to a car without being balanced. At low speed you do not notice but as the speed increases vibrations start to appear. Inside an engine the rotational speeds typically reach 6000-7000 rpm and the higher the speed the more critical it is to ensure that vibrations do not occur.
The benefits of engine balancing are the engine will generally be more efficient and will certainly tolerate much higher engine speeds. No engine can be perfectly balanced due to other factors involved but we can certainly improve upon the balance of a mass produced engine.
The main components in an engine needed for balancing are the flywheel, bearings, pistons & rings, the piston rods, pins and the crankshaft. If the weight of any of these is altered, the engine should be balanced.
